Case Study

Case Study, Success Story Case studies Support in Girls residential home in Mumbai, Welfare Education and Early Childhood Development, Girls residential home in Thane Girls orphanage India, Girls orphanage Mumbai, Girls orphanage Thane

Arpita was eight years old when she joined Amcha Ghar, Her uncle harassed her mother to the point of suicide, and her mother died in front of her eyes. When she joined us she was mentally disturbed and terrified of men. Her aggregate marks in school were two. It was very difficult for her to cope with her studies and social environment.

Success Story :
With special care and attention, Arpita has made slow but steady progress. She passed 10th standard from open school and completed her sewing course. She has completed her pre-primary teacher’s training course and assists us in teaching at Amcha Ghar School. She has developed confidence and likes when the children call her `Teacher`.

Case Study :
Seema joined us when she was five years old. She had witnessed the death of her immediate family members one after another. When her mother died, she did not react. But after twelve days, it was very difficult for us to look after her. She needed constant attention, care and love. On her request, we prayed for her mother in our evening prayers for twelve days. Time and again, she had to be assured that her mother had left her in my care and that I would be her surrogate mother and look after her.

Success Story :

Today she is fine and healthy. She is intelligent and studying in 7th std.

Case Study :
Jamma joined us when she was four years old. Her mother, a CSW (commercial sex worker), brought her to us. She was dressed in long clothes. After her mother’s departure, we examined her and realized she was fully covered with scabies. But she had a beautiful smile on her face. After some time, her mother stopped coming to see her as she was afflicted with AIDS. Jamma used to wait for her mother to come from Pune and hoped she would visit her at least on her birthday. However, her mother did not call or come for three years. Slowly she accepted the fact that her mother would never come. We found a God-father for her from the neighborhood. Jamma was very happy, but her happiness was short-lived. Her God-father died of illness and old age. This was another shock. Success story: Jamma is gradually recovering and learning to be strong child. She is studying in 6th std.
